Denmark on Target for 2025

Denmark is on track to meet their emissions targets for 2025 and to surpass their goal for 2030. It takes a lot of effort to turn an economy, especially one that grew on internal combustion. But as State of Green reported earlier this month, Denmark’s efforts haven’t gone to waste.

Electricity and heating account for much of the improvement. Denmark’s last coal power plants will soon cease operation, largely replaced by solar and wind power. Stronger than expected electric vehicle sales and biofuel production cut dependence on gas, with biofuels now projected to replace petroleum gas entirely in 2029.
